Startup Business Financing 101...

Hello, once again! The Passion Profit Company is launching some new projects, products and services.

  • We've started with a revamp of the PassionProfit.com site for a cleaner, tighter look.

  • We've also just launched StartupBusinessFinancing101.com which features a thorough money-generating guide by Passionpreneur Expert Kamau Austin.

Blogger, Internet Marketing, and Software Expert Jamie Ratliff Says...

    "Raise Cash Fast should be
    required reading for Business 101"

"I was amazed at the many pages of quality information that is usually difficult to track down. Just the chapters on the Small Business Administration and Establishing Business Credit would be worth the cost of this publication.

The resources provided could be priceless to a lot of small business owners or anyone who is thinking of starting a business. The chapters regarding MicroLoans and Grants are better than I've seen in standalone products that sell for hundreds of dollars on their own.

The best thing about Raise Cash Fast is that the guide covers so much, it really doesn't matter how big or small a business is, they will find valuable information that applies to their specific business financial needs.

Thanks for sharing such extraordinary information."

    Archives of the Empire!

Had a very nice coaching session with a new client yesterday and I suggested that she start thinking about her book project not as single book but as the beginnings of an empire. Building an online reputation that results in sales and "effortless income" is a process. When I started my writing career in 1992, it was with a single book that I sold through mail order. When I started my online identity in 1997, I started with a single site (nichemarket.com). When I started doing my life rhymes, it was just as a little boost to my business partners. When Monica Blache, a member of my nichemarket.com mailing list suggest I start a poets niche, it was to provide an outlet for a few poets she knew. 10 Years later, I have over 50 registered domains and about a dozen active sites, the life rhymes grew and continued for 9 years! The poetsniche membership exploded, and we even had a day named after us in Atlanta when poets came from as far away as Canada for our first "meet up!" It's all been a process, but now 10 years later, I can look back and compile a body of work of which I'm very proud--a body of work which continues to offer information, inspiration and ideas!

    "Glad You're Back Walt

    Hi Walt,

I'm so happy to hear from you just as much as the other people who subscribed to Walt's Inspirational Fridays.
I love your free spiritedness and the wonderful decision you made to follow your passion and allow the universe to take you to Saipan.

I just finished reading Notes 1 - 12 in your (Jamaican in Saipan) e-book. I am in week #3 of a decision I made to leave my job as an architect/project manager for a small, non-profit, redevelopment organization. July 5th I received divorce papers, July 6th was my last day on my job and July 8th I turned 43 years old. I have turned a new page in the book of my life and I am loving my time away from the "rat race".
When people asked me where I was going next. I responded that I was not going immediately to another job. I'm taking some time off for my life and to do what I want to do. I then often heard a response such as, "it must be nice. You must have a lot of money. I wish I could do that". To which I responded, "I don't have a lot of money and you can do this. You just have to make the decision to do it".

What I have found is that when you make a decision to follow your passion, the universe responds and supports you.

So my hat off to you. And thanks for the good laugh this morning as I finished reading the end of Note 3: "Never go to Eva for your boarding pass."

Take care and I wish you continued success."

    Thanks, IJ,
And though I've never left, It's great to be back!

    My Dilemma

So, here's my dilemma. It's not that I haven't had anything to say these past few days. Actually, it's quite the opposite. There's so much going on that I haven't decided how and where I want to document it all. I've recently launched the NewSaipan ActionTank, which amounts to an all-inclusive banner under which I can post information on all the projects I've been working on while here on Saipan. The challenge with that, of course, is that I don't really want to have two blogs running concurrently (this one and a NewSaipan blog). I prefer to focus my energies. So, do I bring Side Orders to a close? Or, do I bite the bullet and commit to two blogs?

On a similar note, there's still not a personal blog where I can post things that have nothing to do with business--like my recent pleasure trip to Managaha. But, being somewhat of a public figure, I'm not sure if that's appropriate or wise to do.

    Anyway...

Went to enjoy myself at the Liberation Day festivities on Thursday,

Had another interview on Harry Blalock's show last Friday...

Met with members of the New Saipan ActionTank on Saturday

Took part in a commemorative tree planting event on Tuesday

My article in the Tribune appeared on Wednesday

Members of Saipan's blogger community appeared on Harry's show today (I was there in spirit)

Tonight (Thursday) I'll likely be in Garapan for the street market

Friday I'll likely be at GIG dancing the night away...

And every hour in-between, I'm brainstorming, making calls, and moving things forward
with The Pacific Island Food Co-op, The Saipanpreneur Project the NewSaipan ActionTank, and this great experience I call my life!

Ok, ok, maybe I'll show one shot from last week at GIG....

    Still here!

Ok, I've been a bit busy lately. I've been channeling most of my creativity towards my weekly column, as well as some other projects which I'll announce shortly.

Last week, I gave at talk at the Rotary International weekly meeting,

On Friday, I was interviewed by Harry Blaylock for his "Island Issues" radio program.

Here's Lewie Tenorio, the music director responsible for the great song selections I enjoy on the music station I listen to most here on Saipan. (103.9 KZMI-FM).

Wednesday's Tribune article will have some insight into what I've been spending most of my time and mental energies brainstorming on.

    Random goings on

Let's see....what do I want to share today?
(all links open in a new window)
  • Well, the press release for the MLK contest winners appeared in the SaipanTribune

  • WeLoveSaipan.com moved up one position to 69 on a Google search for "saipan"

  • The copies of my book, This Game of Hip Hop Artist Management, to be used in a music industry course, shipped to South Carolina State University today

  • I've located and contacted a few new suppliers for the Pacific Island Food Co-op in my efforts to get more health-conscious food products available here on island.

  • Dean Nance herself posted a nice comment to the MLK Day post

  • One of my coaching clients, Captain Carl gets his pickup truck today! Go Carl!

  • Seems quite a few new people are jumping on the blog bandwagon here in Saipan...I was going to list them all, but Angelo has a better handle on who's new and already beat me to it

and at any given moment here on my desktop, there are a dozen pending book orders, requests for speaking engagements, new projects, books to update, sites to tweak, people to contact....

...and I slept most of the day!

Elements of Fame Challenge Wrap up

As you may be aware, in November of 2005, I came up with the idea of challenge myself to achieve a certain level of "fame" within 365 days. Immediately after taking on that challenge, things started happening to take my life in an entirely different direction. 30 days later, my friend Ken told me about his trip to Saipan, and I was so sold, that I booked a ticket, gave away my collection of vinyl records, abandoned my apartment and headed off to paradise. At the time, I wondered how this move would affect my Elements of Fame challenge, but figured my happiness was much more important.

Little did I realize, however, that the universe, in its perfection, was actually delivering my wishes to me. Check out the Escape from America blog and you'll see that within a few short days of landing, I was visiting with heads of state, appearing on television and radio, and writing a weekly column in on of the island's newspapers. I'm even appearing in other people's blogs!
I have more coaching clients and projects than I can handle, and working on some very interesting projects which is getting my name out there within the Pacific region. I've traveled to Guam to do workshops, and have standing requests for other islands and countries this side of the world.

And now, as a result of what others consider a bold and inspiring move, I'm starting to get requests stateside to share the Passion Profit Philosophy and Formula with others who might also wish to live their dreams in a bold way.

Funny how things have a way of working out.

So from where I sit (on a beach overlooking the Pacific ocean), the Elements of Fame challenge was indeed a success. Saipan is as great a place to be known as any other. And it's just the beginning of a new adventure.

    Rocky Balboa

  • Submitted my article to the Saipan Tribune for publication this Wednesday

  • Angelo and I have been speaking about branding the CNMI and Saipan for the purpose of helping the international image in the minds of tourists. I thought of the phrase "native beauty" to describe the natural landscape here.

  • Saw Rocky Balboa, the movie today. I think I was the only person in the theatre. (Ahhh, the joy of being able to see movies in the middle of the day!)

  • WeLoveSaipan.com is now at position 50 for a Google search of "saipan"
[here's an excerpt from an overview of the WeLoveSaipan idea and goals written by Angelo:]

We basically wanted to find all of the local people publishing info about life on Saipan and get them to join the We Love Saipan Network. When we've exhausted that pool of people, we'll start a campaign to get more local people publishing pictures and stories online using the various free websites out there like blogger, livejournal, etc. The idea being that search engine typically rank a website based on the number of other websites that link to them. The more websites we have linking to us (and us to them), the higher we will appear in search engines.

We launched the website on Dec. 6, 2006 and at that time we appeared as the 155th result in a google search for Saipan. Today when we did a search we were #50. In the span of under a month, we have been able to go from nothing to the fifth page of a search result for Saipan.
